When you are happy & you know...

Have you observed why kids are always happy?

When I was in school, I used to dislike history and would think that the year i won't have to study history would be the happiest year of my life!
While applying for college, I thought, I will be happy when I get in this particular college.
Then in college, there was this pressure of getting placed, I thought I will be happy when I get a job in hand.
When I worked a job, I thought I will be happy when I manage a team.
When I became manager, I thought I will be happy when I have a kid.
When I had a child, I thought I will be happy when I loose weight.
….as you see this cycle of life goes on…many like me would keep asking,

‘Why am I not happy?’

Over the years of research and study in human body and nutrition, I learnt that happiness is controlled by the science in our body called hormones.
These hormones are key to happiness.

Just recall how you feel after exercising or running?
We feel happy tired!
How did you feel when you watched Mr Beans or any funny movie/video?
Or
When you were ROFL on a joke/situation
We all know, children who play outside are happier kids.
So 30 minutes of exercise or playing a sport every day, watching funny stuff or having humor in life gets our Endorphins flowing! That is happy hormone no.1

When you finish a task or achieve a goal, how do you feel?
We feel accomplished and good about ourselves.
When you get awarded for some work or get appreciated, how do you feel?
How does a child feel when he or she is appreciated for the homework they did or sang in assembly?
We feel happy!

When we buy new car, new house, latest gadgets, we become happy because Dopamine is released. That is no 2 happiness hormone.
Now, do you realize why we become happy when we shop till we drop!

When we help other people, we feel happy!
When we grow plants, be with nature, when we give back to society, when we write blogs, or connect with someone, we feel happy.
Serotonin is generated when we help others. That is no.3 hormone which will bring happiness to more than you! We teach sharing to kids when they are young so they feel the happiness in giving and sharing.

When we get a hug, it brightens one’s soul like the sunrise in the sky.
It is comforting and makes us feel secure.

Oxytocin is released when we hug or put our arms around someone or shake hands. That is no. 4 happiness hormone!

Give your family and friends a “Jadoo Ki Jhappi” and make them happy too.

When we are happy, we can deal with our challenges and problems better. So get your healthier levels of happy hormones flowing!!
